We brought and bought new tools for hospital maintenance. Because this hospital is government operated, there just aren’t funds to get all the tools they need. The reasons there are no funds is debatable, but the fact remains, they need many tools that here in the States we take for granted. For example, there is only one drill for the whole hospital. When it breaks, they fix it as good as they can because they can’t just go buy a new one. BCFC, with donations from people like you, was able to buy them another drill, as well as many other much needed tools.
The need doesn’t end there. Many of the supplies needed to operate a hospital either aren’t available or are too expensive for the hospital to acquire. We know how important it is in preventing disease, so we wouldn’t think of not using gloves in the States, but at this hospital (and many other clinics and hospitals) they don’t have the luxury of gloves. Nurses do their duties without gloves and even without hand sanitizer. They wash frequently. BCFC was able to take approzimately 3000 pairs of gloves for the nurses to use. It was an exciting moment when the nurses in charge would come to get the gloves, and other supplies, we had brought. What amazes us is that when we bring supplies like this, it is always what they needed at the time. I believe God directs us when we pack our suitcases to bring just what they need.
We are now attempting to ship a container full of medical supplies and equipment, maintenance tools and equipment and anything else we can for the people of Honduras. We have started getting some pricing and it appears we might be able to get a 40 foot container full of much needed supplies to Honduras for under $5000. That does sound good doesn’t it? And as great of a deal that may be, it is still quite a bit of money. However, we know we serve a big God who has called us into this mission. I believe He will bring us the funding. Maybe you are to be a part of that. If you feel directed to help in this project, please contact us via email and we will be glad to answer any questions about this project. Now, please take a look at the pictures from this trip. God bless.
