How Border Crossers for Christ Began

The directors had been on several mission trips to Mexico.  After helping chaperone a trip to Saltillo, Mx put on by the Spiritfire youth group from Crystal, Mn. in June of 2003, they decided they wanted to return as soon as they could.  As they talked about returning, students expressed an interest to go with them.  In investigating the technicalities of taking minors across the border into Mexico, they came to the conclusion that it would be best to form a nonprofit and BCFC was born.

In January 2004, the paperwork was filed with the IRS and Border Crossers for Christ became official.  The first trip to Saltillo, Mx as an official organization was in June of 2004 with a team of 13 people.  Since then, we have been back to Saltillo several times with other teams to present hope to hurting people there.

BCFC has also started medical missions in the country of Honduras.  With donations from supporters, BCFC has been able to provide surgery for a young boy.  BCFC has also been able to help a woman with diabetes by providing her with insulin, syringes and even a meter supplied to BCFC by CVS and CUB Food Pharmacies.  BCFC has also begun a relationship with a hospital there and are presently working to collect medical supplies and equipment to deliver there in the near future.

BCFC has also been able to deliver toiletry items, food items and other misc. items to organizations like the Simpson Shelter, Community Emergency Services, Teen Challenge and Loaves and Fishes.  BCFC has also been able to help families and individuals in need.

BCFC looks forward to being able to go wherever God leads us.  There are so many opportunities to serve locally in the States and with our contacts in Mexico and Honduras.  If you have any questions, suggestions or would like to become a donor and partner with Border Crossers for Christ, please contact us at rewestbrook@bordercrossersforchrist.org
